noise from plumbing was disruptive.

The unique vintage decor filled the space with a charming character that felt like stepping back in time. Breakfast featured a delightful spread, fueling up for coastal strolls while enjoying views of the seaside.
The bathroom setup left a lot to be desired, with notorious issues like an unreliable toilet and showers lacking hot water. Despite the warm weather, the absence of air conditioning made the top-floor suite feel like a sauna, and the missing mini-fridge meant drinks stayed warm. Decor elements like peeling wallpaper and clunky furniture gave off a shabby vibe, and without proper lighting, the room felt dim and unwelcoming.

stayed for 1 night and the staff were super friendly and helpful, truly great vibes. the breakfast was delish with lots of options and we had it outside which was nice on a sunny day. the location is just perfect for swimming in the walpole bay tidal pool, loved it! room was comfy and had a cool view. The bathroom felt modern. all in all, much better experience than my last visit!
the only downside was that the room could use a few more plugs for charging devices. also, some things still felt a little quirky which might not be for everyone.

Had a lovely 4-night stay where I enjoyed the excellent breakfast and cozy afternoon tea. The chill lounge was perfect for unwinding after a busy day, and the peaceful garden area was a nice touch. Just make sure to bring earplugs if you’re sensitive to a bit of noise from the balcony door that could use a doorstop! 😊

lovely atmosphere but outdated amenities
The historic charm of the hotel captivated me the moment I walked in. The attentive staff went above and beyond, surprising us with an upgrade for a special occasion.
Some amenities feel a bit dated.

Couple looking for something unique
The hotel is truly exceptional. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had in ages, and the staff genuinely seemed to care about your comfort. It felt like being at home, but better. Also loved the quirky lift that looked like it was from another time. Made every trip up feel special!
It wasn’t the cheapest option, but still acceptable for what we got.

Our stay at Walpole Bay Hotel was absolutely delightful! We were made to feel very welcome by the receptionist and the owner, Jane, who had fascinating stories about the hotel. The unique decor and amazing collections made our experience truly special. The breakfast offered a great selection that fueled us for a day of coastal walks.
Could use an extra shelf in the bathroom.

The room itself felt cramped, with tired decor that could use a serious overhaul. Windows presented an unappealing view, marred by old dried bird droppings on three panes. Poor water pressure in the bathroom made simple tasks, like washing hands, an exercise in patience. The toiletries provided were far too tiny for even the basics, with only one of each offered when more were truly needed. For those sensitive to light, the thin curtains doing a terrible job of blocking out the sunrise meant waking up well before the birds. Lastly, an unwelcoming check-in experience took away from the first impression, as guests appeared to crowd and utilize the lobby for ordering food and drinks.
